"YOU ARE WHAT YOU REPEATEDLY DO"

about me
My name is Samuel Scheimann. I grew up with Topsport and the pressures that belong to this life from an early age. At the age of 5 I joined the Feyenoord football academy. I was never the greatest talent or deemed a ‘superstar’. However, by knowing this it helped me develop attributes like mental toughness and resilience. Things I would never learn had it been ‘easy’ for me at an adolescent age. After many setbacks and difficulties, my dream became a reality. At a relatively late age of 21, I became a professional football player for FC Den Bosch. For more than a decade I played professional football at the highest national levels in the Netherlands and Israel, playing both European and Champions league matches and proudly represented my country at an International level. During my whole career I gained a lot of life experiences and actual first-hand knowledge of the demands of being a professional athlete. This is first hand experience not found in theory books on how to deal with both success and setbacks.

Recently I ended my professional football career to completely dedicate myself to helping other athletes in the mental aspects of top sport. Ever since I was a teenager I struggled with the pressures of ‘making it’. This interested and motivated me to learn more about the mental side of top sport. First for my own benefit but later this grew into helping other players with similar experiences. Apart from reading leading books and articles on this topic, I completed a Bachelor degree in Psychology during my career, and a Master degree in Sport and Performance Psychology at the University of Amsterdam (UvA) after my career.

For 3 years I have been working as a mental coach at the prestigious youth Academy of Feyenoord Rotterdam. Thereby applying my skills and knowledge.
Now
about you
How professional are you with your sport? Even physically strong athletes use the gym and fitness coaches. What about nutrition? Elite athletes go to a nutritionist to help them create an eating program. Often, There is also a personal trainer to train on technique or other skills apart from regular training. But what about the mental side? An athlete/sports star who does everything for his/her sport in terms of nutrition, strength and extra training does not always bring out the best version of himself/herself in competitions. The blame for that is usually given to the mental side.
Sport, every sport, is practiced with the brain. Being mentally strong is more than a vague concept. It’s proven you can train and strengthen this. I believe the theoretical knowledge combined with my personal experiences will enable me to help (aspiring) athletes be the best version of themselves. That is my passion and absolute dream, to make sure you will reach your full potential and perform to the best of your abilities. When you are as passionate as I am about being the best version of yourself in doing what you love to do most, nothing can stop you. I am here to help you make sure that happens.
